Axial HRCT temporal images show subpleural interlobular septal thickening in upper and lower lobes of both lungs.
Pacemaker leads in ventricles
Homogeneous liver hyperdensity
Diagnosis:
Amiodarone deposition in liver
Amiodarone induced pulmonary fibrosis (presumed)
Discussion:
Amiodarone is an antiarrhythmic medication which can get deposited in the liver and lungs.
In the lungs it can cause interstitial lung disease in the form of chronic eosinophilic pneumonia, diffuse alveolar damage or organizing pneumonia. It can also cause pulmonary fibrosis.
Amiodarone deposition in liver appears hyperdense because of its high iodine content. However it is usually asymptomatic and hepatic dysfunction as a result of it is uncommon.
